This is one of those places where as soon as you arrive, you mentally start planning a return trip. I have no words for how beautiful the decor and design is. As you can see from the photos, it’s not done up in a typical “luxury” style, but is traditional Moroccan with eclectic elements. Even the tiniest details are done to perfection. The hotel combines several riads, each with its own personality. Those rooms have balconies and a hot tub in the central courtyard, and in my opinion it is the most beautiful out of all the riads. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food is good. The location is close to all, easily walkable to the Bahia Palace, Djema al-Fna, and Koutoubia mosque and next door to the Saadian tombs, although you will need to take a cab to get to the Majorelle Gardens.
I have travelled to some amazing places and am very grateful for that. What is superb about La Sultana are the teams of people that run this beautiful hotel. Every single person we came across were more than happy to help, assist and advise. There is so much to do in Marrakech, if you want to. Equally you can just do nothing but laze around. Once you enter the walls of the hotel you come across the peace, all you can hear is trickling of the fountains, the smell of rose water and the odd door shutting. So many corners to discover. Upstairs on the terrace you can catch some sunshine, have a mint tea, take a cooking class or just laze around reading a book.
What we liked to do was get a glass of something cold and wet and watch the sun go down. The hotel isn’t really suitable for young people.
Breakfast is served around the pool, which is on the ground floor. This time of year it gets rather nippy in the evenings, so I advise taking slightly warmer clothing for the evenings. The hotel do provide lovely warm blankets for you to wrap up warm. The food is both traditional Moroccan and also European. We found there to be a rather nice selection of wine, including Moroccan which I have to say was rather nice.
I have visited Morocco many times, including Marrakech. The people of Morocco are extremely friendly, I have to say that the people at La Sultana were amazing. I can highly recommend this hotel and the people that run it.
Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed .
